Day 11: Exhausted and Spent

Sometimes with all the praying, fasting, speaking, strategizing, weeping, connecting, and collaborating for women and children touched by abortion, it's easy to suffer burnout and exhaustion. I am approaching that myself now. I have a major program launching, an ongoing mentoring program, office responsibilities, a prayer team, am preparing responses to misinformation regarding abstinence programs, and the list goes on. I'm feeling tired and a little rundown. And I'm not the only one. There are many like me all across this country who are passionate about making a difference. Our energy ebbs and flows but our hearts always burn to see women choose life.

Today's reading reminds me that when I'm struggling to regain strength, there's an inexhaustible supply available:

The favors of the Lord are not exhausted, his mercies are not spent. They are renewed each morning, so great is his faithfulness. I say to myself, "The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him." The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait in silence for the saving help of the Lord. Lam. 3:22-26

I'm waiting, hoping, pressing.
