Many nations around the world copy America’s government system. They like it because it allows the public to elect their leaders. In that sense, America is a model for other nations. In a more profound way, God wants his people to be a beacon for righteous living in the world. Jesus told His disciples they were salt and light for the rest of the world. Long before Jesus, Moses told ancient Israel that God was counting on them to be a model for other nations. Here are Moses words from Deuteronomy 4: “Look, I now teach you these decrees and regulations just as the LORD my God commanded me, so that you may obey him in the land you are about to enter and occupy. Obey them completely, and you will display your wisdom and intelligence among the surrounding nations. When they hear all these decrees, they will exclaim, ‘How wise and prudent are the people of this great nation! For what great nation has a god as near to us whenever we call on him? And what nation has decrees and regulations as righteous and fair as this body of instructions that I am giving you today?” Since God counts on us, His people, to set the standard for godly living, to represent Him in our home, our church, and our community, we ought to ask daily, “What kind of message am I communicating by what I say and do?”

  1. I guess sir that you are a doctor of theology. You certainly don’t know a thing about world history. Your knowledge of democratic governments, of politics and maybe law and order is minimal. You should sir read up on Wiki about the Magna Carta, a charter set out at Runnymede in England in 1215 and signed by King John. The Magna Carta sir was used by George Washington as the cornerstone of your government. The world’s democratic governments have used England’s for centuries.
